Welcome to McAlester

If you told me 15 years ago that I’d be living in McAlester, I would have awkwardly laughed and kindly said you were crazy. My husband is originally from McAlester, and despite my original stubbornness, we moved to the area about 5 years ago and then moved into town almost 2 years ago. And honestly, I love it. There is something about McAlester that has always felt like home. Initially out of college, I thought I needed to live in a big city, but after living in one for 10 years, I have learned that isn’t the case. McAlester offers a unique opportunity to be the change that we want to see; to truly make a difference. My husband and I are both medical providers and McAlester has provided us with jobs to be that change, with abundant love and support from the community. But even moreso, I love witnessing and supporting others as they embark on carrying out their passions. I’ve truly enjoyed knowing and seeing small business owners rally together to support each other and provide the city with products, events and even festivals that further provide opportunities for other small businesses to succeed. It’s hard not to want to be a part of it all. Who wouldn’t want to be able to run 5 errands in an hour with no traffic, enjoy beautiful scenery, have easy access to lakes, hiking, climbing, and a supportive community!?
